Step 1. What do you get when you take anime eyes and put them on a dragon? Why, you get an anime dragon of course! Don’t believe me? Then see for yourselves!

Step 10. They look almost identical don’t they! See how the shading on the dragon below compensates for its lack of detail when compared to the dragon above! It’s THAT easy! Don’t worry about getting the shading perfect, just try to bring out the dimensions of your dragon using this method! Well, there you have it! Just remember those three simple rules and you’ll be drawing Anime Dragons with ease! I know that there’s probably much more to it than just what is stated above! This is just the most important rules in my opinion, because it works for me! Until Next time! ~KenshinEien
Step 2. Now in this next step you will be focusing on sketching out the shape of his head and face as well as the body and wings. But first lets start by shaping out the head and then add the horns as shown. Next draw an opening in the middle of the mouth so that you can give him an open smile. Make a line for his eyes and then a dash for the nose hole. Next draw out the lining for the back of his neck and arm on the right and then you can begin shaping out the dragon wing. His wings are only partially open. You will now start shaping out the anime dragons body to give him definition. After you do that it is time to start drawing the lining for the left wing and both legs and right foot including the claws.

Step 5. Now look at these sets of eyes and you’ll begin to see what I mean. You see! The thing that makes an anime dragon look like an ANIME DRAGON (or any Anime character look like Anime for that matter) is the eyes mostly!
Step 4. This step is very simple indeed because all you will have to do is draw in the stripes on the belly and fining the thickness of the tail. Detail the thigh and calf of the right leg and then begin drawing out the left foot. Finish the sketching of his right wing and detail it a bit.
Step 1. Okay start this first step by drawing out the guidelines and shapes to make a simple frame for the anime dragon. Start by drawing a small circle for the head and then add the boxed shape for the snout. Next draw an egg shape for the torso and then another half egg shape for the pelvic area of the anime dragon. From those shapes you just drew you can now add the guidelines for the arms, legs, wings, tail, and then the smaller shapes for the feet and hands.
Step 4. Now draw and re-draw each type of eye over top of your dragon! Each time take a good look at the results. Hmmm… Those aren’t bad looking eyes right, BUT do they really make this dragon look like an Anime dragon? The answer is NO! Sure, example 4 could probably pass as an Anime dragon, but it’d be just barely.

Step 6. There are a few other factors that determine Anime worthiness as well, such as the attention to detail (or the lack there of), depending on how you look at it! I know what you’re thinking… “He forgot about their facial structure!” Right? Not at all! That mostly applies to HUMAN looking characters and USUALLY doesn’t apply to animals. They can Look highly detailed or fairly simple in design.

Step 3. What you will start doing in this third step is giving this anime dragon an anime looking eye. Next add some teeth and then draw a long curved line starting from under the jaw and ending at the top of the thigh. This is the separation line for the belly. Next finish drawing the right arm and hand including the claws. Detail the bottom part of the right wing and then begin the lining for the tail. Detail the left thigh and then sketch out the clawed hand. You will end this step by drawing the lining for the tip of the left wing and detail the right claws or toes.

Step 5. This is the last drawing step and all you will do is detail the left wing and the left foot including the toes. When you are done you can start cleaning up your drawing by erasing the guidelines and shapes that you drew in step one.
Step 7. Simplicity and Cell Shading are key ingredients to consider using when trying to re-create that Anime look, but using less lines to make images look detailed can be difficult! Mastering this technique will save you lots of time, especially when you don’t have a lot of it on your hands!
Step 3. All done? Great! Now take a look at these eye sets! Some look much like what you’d see in your average Anime/Manga, while others not so much, but why is that? What could possibly be wrong with them? Let’s take a look!

Step 2. Just follow these simple steps to make your very own Anime Dragon, but don’t draw in the eyes yet. I’ll explain it in a little more detail when your done!

Step 6. This is what your anime dragon should look like when you are completely done. All you have to do is color him in any way you want using any color you want. You have just completed this tutorial on how to draw an anime dragon step by step.
Hello artist, I am back with another tutorial for you all. Today I am going to show you how to draw an anime dragon. Why an anime dragon you ask? Well for one, I have a bunch of different kinds of dragons uploaded that I drew over the course of time. I was looking through them and I said to myself “hey, I don’t have a tutorial on an anime dragon”. So here I am today, this tutorial is going to be super duper simple. Anime dragons to me are kind of supposed to look like they belong in anime cartoons like DragonBall Z or Inuyasha. Anime dragons are almost really cartoony looking and have very simple parts to draw. When drawing an anime dragon you will also learn how to draw dragon legs, dragon arms, dragon talons, dragon tail, dragon wings, dragon eyes, dragon tongue and many more parts of the dragon anatomy. The reason why anime dragons are so simple to draw is because they are bulky, less detailed, and more round. And everybody knows that drawing round circles is an incredibly simple thing to do. Dragons have been a part of our history for centuries and there are many tales and myths about the dragon. Not only are there myths and tales, but there are also many different kinds of dragons that have been created over time by many different people including myself. Over time I have drawn and created so many different dragons and almost all of them have unusual names and history behind them. For instance, if you go into the dragons category and scroll down you will notice that there are several dragons that are very weird looking. I have a gargoyle dragon, a snake dragon, green thunder dragon, then I have a shade dragon, a mercenary dragon and tons more. These fantasy creatures can sometimes be difficult to draw if you are trying to draw a detailed complex dragon when you are just a novice. When you are a novice artist it is good to tackle intermediate tutorials at least three times a week just to get some kind of detailing experience. The other four days that are left in the week you should really try and draw from tutorials that are in your level because this way here you can get good at drawing from a novice level. When you are a novice artist you are basically learning how to draw simple shapes. This includes the head, arms, body, legs, hands and feet. When drawing a human face you should take your time because it can get very frustrating. It took me a while before I could draw a human face at an intermediate level. I just practice every day and once a month I buy books on how to draw different things that I want to get better at. In this tutorial I will show you how to draw an anime dragon step by step. The instructions are easy and the steps are even simpler. Remember tackle this tutorial with patience because you should always take your time when you are learning something new or trying to get better at something you already know. I will be back in a bit with more tutorials that you can learn from and enjoy.
Step 9. Try to create your characters with as little defining lines as what is needed! The shading will compensate for any line art details you leave out, just keep it Simple and Clean! Right now you can see a big difference between the dragon above and the one below, so now we’ll give it a little shading to mask the details!
