How To Draw The Manga Body.

The drawing should be cleaned well, removing smudges, dust, or eraser fragments. To see if there are any tiny fragments on your paper or drawing, you can look at the draw close trimly from a severe angle, so that you could see them contrasting from the paper`s appear as they rise up. You may use a brush or compacted air to remove the fragments from the framing material.

It`s how your fulfilled artwork is presented that makes all the difference. Although it`s teasing to purely area your drawing in a ready-made frame, there are a few things that you must take in study before framing your artwork to insure it is adequately protected over the years.

Otherwise, the paper will ripple or develop arrangements if it is confined in any procedure sequences in the paper become extremely apparent when the lighting is directional or at an angle to the framed piece of art. The light causes highlight and shadow because of the contours in the paper. Some framers are using a large synthetic photo type corner that allows the paper to slide in and be secure at all four corners and still allow for the flexing of the paper. It seems to be working quite well, as several of my drawings and illustrations using other media on paper, have been framed this plan for a number of years.

Add a protective dust cover, After attaching the art and framing materials to the actual frame, a dust cover can be used on the back to keep supplementary dust, spiders, or bugs from entering the framed picture compartment. This is usually done by using a two-sided tape on the back draw close of the molding all the approach around the perimeter. There is a standard thickness that is required and favored in the industry for this buffer or barrier. The same consideration should be given to the backing of your drawing. If your drawing or art is backed or mounted on an acid-free material, the barrier is unnecessary . Some framers use a foam-core board for backing.

Stay away from black, As a general rule, I always stay away from black, especially solid black-although, it could work if is part of a color peculiarity with a particular molding and if it is not overpowering the drawing. It`s great to have something that has a range of values-including molding and mats, working as a set. Even with the values and gradations created within the graphite media, the mat or mats and the frame should all be selected to either compliment, subdue, or emphasize any particular value or aspect of your drawing.

Otherwise, body proportions are pretty much standard: your shoulder to your elbow is roughly the same length as your elbow to your wrist. The same goes for the hip to the knee and knee to the ankle. I generally like to begin the wire frame figure by placing (not finishing) the head, then going into the rest of the wireframe, because the head usually guides the body. The detail is developed along with the rest of the figure, not finished first.

Here is one last pose to go over the size and placement. As you can see, the figure I’ve drawn here is male. Aside from having breasts, females will have wider hips and thinner waists, giving the “hourglass” shape. Manga style dictates that their shoulders are less broad than men, and their necks more slender. I am going to begin this tutorial by addressing one of the most common requests that I receive: how to draw women’s breasts (heh, I never thought I’d actually be making a tutorial about this…. ^_^). One of the most important things you should consider is to make your subject look natural; you can draw an attractive female without making her look like a “silicon implant ad,” as a friend of mine put it. ^_^

When drawing a manga character, the right proportions are important. You are about 7.5 heads tall. Manga action heroes tend to have more elongated proportions, at least 8 heads tall, often taller. The comparatively small head heightens the dramatic effect of a low viewpoint in the towering ‘hero’ stance. This is a very different look to the big-headed style of cartoon.

The main problems people seem to have with drawing breasts are the shape and the placement. A lot of artists (professionals as well as amatuers) make them look like balloons that have been taped onto the subject’s chest; this is hardly a natural look. If you look through figure drawing books, you’ll see that they are more like halves of a sphere or overturned teacups rather than balloons.

Now, note the position. Imagine a central guideline that runs down the center of your subject’s body, as shown at the left. The breasts are at 45 degree angles from that center line, and are about halfway down the chest (shown by the red diagonal guidelines). Be very careful not to draw them too close together or too far apart, or too high on the chest; these are commonly made mistakes. As you will see in examples below, this basic rule of the 45 degree placement will apply to pretty much whatever pose you are using.

One more thing I wanted to cover regarding the torso is how to draw it if an arm is lifted. ^_^ I have personally found this difficult sometimes, so I figured it was a good thing to go over. If the arm is lifted, then the back of the torso will be exposed. Although a female’s torso isn’t as round and full as a males, it should still stick out in the back. Don’t make the upper torso too narrow. Notice also how the top of the right-most breast doesn’t just keep curving inwards in a circle; remember that it is not a full sphere, so it is attached to the muscles of the shoulder.

Here is another pose, showing the torso from a front view. Note how the breasts are still located at 45 degree angles from the center line of the body. Oh, also take note of the shading. After looking at various examples, I find that shading in this fashion (rather than just following the lower curves as you would shade a sphere) makes them look more natural.

We’re going to start drawing a character using a simple wireframe. For this example, we’ll use a basic, standing pose so you can see how it works.

The forearm and calf muscles don’t continue all the way to the wrists and ankles because the limbs narrow towards those joints.

The wire-and-ball approach is a common one for drawing figures and is a useful place to start. Once you’re confident, you’ll find that you’ll often use just a suggestion of a framework, sometimes skipping straight to the outline. This is a simple character to begin with. The wireframe method is useful for working out quick poses, too.

Now, lets move on to the neck and shoulders. When you draw the shoulders, notice that they are slope down smoothly, they aren’t flat. Try to take the musculature structure of the neck and shoulders into consideration, especially if you are going for a more realistic look. They should be shaped more like a clothes hanger, and not drawn flat and hard.

Next draw the outline – curvy, quite continuous lines that define the character. The gradual curve of these lines is very important. Sharp corners on a figure tend to look mechanical rather than organic, and so look wrong.
